My little girl, Hannah Grace, turned 5 years old today. Although she was very excited about the occasion, Mommy was a little tearful. Sniff Sniff. But, I’m so thankful that Jesus sent her to us. She is a bright spot in our home!
Celebrating with very special friends from our church.

It’s been many years since I’ve used that word, “Daddy” when referring to my Dad. But in my heart he will always be “my Daddy.” Today he celebrates another year of life – his birthday. I am so thankful to that God has blessed my life with such a wonderful man as my father. Dad has always been the quiet sort, not really expressing his affection too often. But, I always knew my Dad loved me. It would make me proud when he’d tell me, “You’re my favorite daughter.” Of course I am his only daughter, but who cares about that, right? Dad is the rock in our family. He was always my pastor but also the spiritual leader of our home. From him I learned that serving Jesus is the best choice you could make. Many times I went to Dad in the middle of the night, asking him to pray for me. Thank you Dad for the spiritual heritage you passed on to me. We hope your day is special and that you know that you are loved and appreciated. Your grand kids think you’re special too and miss you. A great big hug and a Happy Birthday from all of us. Steve, Yvonne, Hannah & Daniel

Receiving the traditional birthday handshake
There’s a story behind this cake. We made it before church and left it on the table to cool. When we got home it was covered in tiny red ants. So, we picked them off as best we could and enjoyed “Texas Ant Sheet Cake.” Yum!
I know this pic is a little old but so cute. Grandpa reading to Hannah and Daniel.

We had a wonderful preacher’s convention in Progresso yesterday. The presence of the Lord was with us right from the start. Bro. King and Bro. Whitaker preached some powerful messages and many hearts were touched. Bro. King got blessed while he was preaching and took a run from the front to the back of the church, surprising everyone who had probably not seen such a thing here. We had a good time of fellowship as well with the pastors and their families.
As I write this, Bro. King and Bro. Whitaker are on their way to the airport. We were so thankful to have them come and be with us for a few days. They were an encouragement to us as well as the people here. God used these two men and people were saved and lives were changed this week because of God’s help.
Congregational Singing
3 Stooges
Congregation (evening)
Children’s Service
Special Songs – Miranda trio
Bro. Whitaker, Thelma and Merary singing “Mansions Over the Hilltop”
Bro. Whitaker singing in English and girls singing in Spanish
“Remember who you are and God will remember you”
Who’s preaching here?
Bro. King begins the ordination ceremony
Ordination of Roberto Colindres and family
Pastors and missionaries of Pacto Biblico Conservadora
Bro. Whitaker said the most dangerous thing he did while he was here was pass out candy. After every service they would pass out candy to the kids and “big kids”. In these pictures there was a large crowd and Bro. King and Bro. Whitaker were being “mobbed” by hands reaching out for more and more candy.
I have more pictures and will try to add some more later.

Sorry, I’m just now getting more pictures uploaded. But we have been SUPER busy between school and services every night. We’ve had a busy, exciting, tiring week. The school children enjoyed chapel service on Wednesday morning as Bro. Whitaker performed a “heart operation” on Bro. King. Several children came forward to ask Jesus into their hearts. One student said, “I’m not going to be bad anymore because I asked Jesus to come into my heart.” At last night’s service in Siguatepeque, about 8-10 young people prayed for salvation. This afternoon in Chepelare, Copan there were a bunch of kids so I told a story and God helped me. Several children acknowledged that they had accepted Jesus in their hearts while we prayed. Tonight at LanEntrada two people came forward, one to be saved. We’re exhausted but rejoicing in what God is doing. Enjoy the pictures.
I’m sorry but the pictures are out of order and no titles but it’s 1:30 am and we have Ministerial at 9:30a.m. tomorrow. I’ll try to fix it later. Pray for us tomorrow.

This week we have ICHA board members – Rev. Barry Whitaker and Rev. Chris King visiting the work here in Honduras. I am going to TRY(that’s the best I can promise) to post pictures every day of their time here. They arrived yesterday (Monday) and we had a service last night in San Cristobal with other participating churches. Bro. Whitaker spoke on the Second Coming and several came forward to pray afterwards. Thank the Lord for His help.
We met outside behind the present church building and inside the 3 walls of the church builing they’ve been wanting to build for several years now. Apart from the mosquitoes and gnats it was a beautiful service.
Sorry, not a good picture of Bro. King but the best I had
Bro. Whitaker preaching. God helped him. It’s now easy preaching through an interpreter but he did great.
Tonight we are having service in San Pedro Sula. I’ll try to post pictures later.

Our Family Christmas 2009
These were taken Christmas Eve after the Christmas Eve service. Pretty good smiles for 12:30 am!
Hondurans say that Christmas is the 24th. But what they do is start celebrating in the late evening on the 24th and continue into the early morning hours of the 25th. Then everything is closed on the 25th because everyone is sleeping from partying all night. It’s also very traditional to have a service with a big meal. One thing that is frustrating to us is that the churches don’t seem to know the Christmas carols in the hymnbook. So, this year we suggested that they learn some and then proceeded to teach them the Christmas songs such as Joy to the World, Silent Night, etc.
Enjoying dinner – rice, chicken, potato salad, tamales. I took 2 big pans of scalloped potatoes, and 3 cakes and didn’t come home with a crumb. They were “fighting” over who was going to take home the little bit of scalloped potatoes that were left over.
Some of Hannah’s best friends – Thelma and Merary Miranda
These 2 fellows just happened to dress alike – Steve and Luis Miranda (president of the ICHA work here in Honduras)
The Christmas story never grows old! (Although Hannah told me after Sunday School today that if she hears the Mary and Joseph story one more time she is going to turn into Joseph. Ha-ha)
Hannah thanking Jesus for Christmas and Daniel trying hard to close to close his eyes.
